Port of Melbourne Supply Chain Model

The Port of Melbourne Supply Chain Model maps transactions in import and export supply chains. It highlights how, where and why the 25+ stakeholders in the chain interact. Organisations operating within the Port of Melbourne logistics network can use the Model to understand:
  • who the stakeholders are and where individual organisations fit within the system,
  • what the commercial interactions are between stakeholders,
  • what the business collaborations are between stakeholders, and
  • which technologies are employed for commercial transactions and business collaborations.
The aim of the model is to increase industry knowledge about the supply chain network, identify gaps, create solutions and achieve synergies.

The Model has been developed as an interactive electronic map using software called Enterprise Architect.

The Supply Chain Model can be obtained by contacting Andrew.Guiney@portofmelbourne.com. Additionally, a Port of Melbourne Supply Chain Model booklet (PDF, 520 KB, 10 pp.) is available to supplement the model. We recommend, though this is not essential, that the booklet be used in conjunction with the model. A User Guide for the Port of Melbourne Supply Chain Model (PDF, 3,200 KB, 46 pp.) is also available and was prepared in August 2004 providing more detailed information on how to use the model.  There is also an interactive supply chain tool Interactive Import/Export Supply Chain Tool.
