Update
The Connect Freight website trial will conclude on 5 October 2010.
This website has been delivered as part of the Victorian Government's $4 million Connect Freight program, which aimed to generate efficiency gains and reduce congestion in the Port of Melbourne supply chain. It has provided and tested a range of online information-sharing tools to assist participants in the Port of Melbourne supply chain to move freight more efficiently.
The trial has been a success and the tools developed on this site have been refined as a result of your feedback - we thank you for your participation.
Moving forward the Port of Melbourne Corporation will take over management of the berth booking and hazardous cargo functions, and arrival and departure information:
- Customers using the berth booking function will be contacted by the Port of Melbourne Corporation directly,
- Arrival and departure information will feature on the Port of Melbourne website.
The results of the trial are also directly contributing to the development of a national Smart Port ICT system which is supported by government and industry around the country, and being led by Ports Australia. This system will include further development of the container status function.
